"The
visa or document shall be issued, if, following an examination,
the officer is satisfied that the foreign national is not inadmissible and
meets the requirements of this Act“.
A permanent resident or foreign national is inadmissible for:
1. Security reasons (espionage, subversion by force of any government,
terrorism, endangering the security of Canada, acts of violence against persons
in Canada, being a member of a subversionist, espionage or terrorist group).
2. Violating human rights.
3. Serious criminality.
4. Being a member of a criminal organization.
5. Health reasons (if likely to endanger public health, to endanger
public safety or to cause excessive demand on health or social services). A Family
Class applicant is exempt from the above clause pertaining to "cause excessive
demand on health or social services".
6. Misrepresentation (to lie or cause or allow a falsehood to be
believed) relative to the application.
7. Failing to comply with the Act (IRPA)8. Accompanying an inadmissible
family member.
