Personal interviews are required as a requirement to obtain a Visa.

CIC literature says that interviews "may" be required but this would be the exceptionally rare case for overseas applications. For in-Canada applications, visa issuance without an interview (in addition to the interview that permitted a temporary stay) is possible.

When an interview time and date has been set by the Department, there will be about 4-8 weeks wait between the request for interview letter and the interview date. You are required to get to the interview at your expense.

You may respond to the written request to delay the interview. If you fail to appear at the original (or rescheduled) interview, you have ................ after which ................... your file will be automatically closed and any monies already paid are forfeited.
